Okie I think I figured it out. At the start he said may be we will got with 12 or may be 8, then he says the choice is up to us. So some of us got influenced by it and picked either number 12 or 8. If you follow what he tell you to, both 12 and 8 end up on the eye card.

Simple.I understand how its done.He removes three cards from the start and when you go backwards you end up three cards on top that is on the “EYE”.
Or distance is same in going forward and backward.He just change direction.
